The Monarchs rattled off 12 straight wins after the start including a win over #19 Temple and defeating UConn for the first time in 10 years snapping a 13 game losing streak. The Monarchs would carry a 10 game winning streak into the BIG EAST Tournament when they would defeat Temple 2-0 in the BIG EAST Semifinals and would defeat #6 Liberty in the BIG EAST Championship 3-1.
