ODU Rowing Places Eighth at 2015 Big 12 Championships

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Old Dominion rowing team completed day two of the 2015 Big 12 Rowing Championships on Sunday afternoon on Melton Hill Lake, finishing in eighth place overall. Colleen Rennie was also named to the All-Big 12 Rowing Team for her efforts during the championship event.

All of the ODU boats competed in the Petit Finals on Sunday afternoon. The Varsity 8 finished second in a time of 7:18.79, while the Second Varsity 8 clocked in at 7:26.97 to place second as well. Both of the four boats also placed second, with the Varsity 4 finishing in 8:09.52 and the Second Varsity 4 recording a time of 8:22.61. The Third Varsity 8 closed out the day for ODU with a first place finish in the Petit Final in a time of 7:36.27 ahead of West Virginia (7:55.00).

Texas won all five races to claim the 2015 Big 12 Rowing Championship as well as the Conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Championship. The league title is the fifth for the No. 11-ranked Longhorns and second since rowing became a fully supported Big 12 sport in 2011-12.
