Men's Swimming Defeats George Mason

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's swimming team defeated George Mason, 153.5-108.5 on Saturday at the Scrap Chandler Pool. The women's team fell to GMU 137-125. Bryce Mortimer qualified for the NIC meet in the men's 100 IM finishing with a time of 51.65.
 
ODU took second in the women's 400 medley relay to start the day. The team of Kiersten Donnelly, Mary Dunworth, Martina Ciriesi and Tanya Yevminova finished in 3:56.03.
 
In the men's 400 medley relay the Monarchs placed first and third. The first place team of Gustaf Hansson, Mortimer, Jamie Cleaver and Zachary Redding finished in 3:22.40. The third place team featured Ben Schattenberg, Toni Salluka, Jordan Davis and Brice Bounds, they finished with a time of 3:29.35.
 
In the women's 1000 freestyle Sophia Kapla took first with a time of 10:48.89 and Brynn Jewell took second with a time of 10:58.16.
 
Old Dominion took the top three spots in the men's 1000 freestyle, Yagiz Ari finished first with a time of 9:38.41, Grey Bremer took second with a time of 9:43.38 and Alexander Schreck took third finishing in 9:51.77.
 
Lauren Masters took first in the women's 200 freestyle with a time of 1:55.33 and Mallory Mackay took second with a time of 1:57.49.
 
In the men's 200 freestyle, Redding took first with a time of 1:41.53 and Ryan Lincicum took third with a time of 1:45.53.
 
Samantha Allred took second in the women's 50 backstroke with a time of 28.13.
 
In the men's 50 backstroke, Hansson took first with a time of 23.40 and Schattenberg took third with a time of 24.46.
 
In the women's 50 breaststroke, Dunworth took first with a time of 30.48 and Bridget Morris Larkin took second with a time 31.36.
 
In the men's 50 breaststroke, Salluka took first with a time of 26.47 and Mortimer took third with a time of 26.53.
 
In the women's 100 butterfly, Ciriesi took first with a time of 56.33 and Masters placed third finishing with a time of 58.43.
 
ODU took second and third in the men's 100 butterfly. Davis placed second with a time of 50.44 and Tristen Wells took third with a time of 51.94.
 
In the women's 50 freestyle, Dunworth took second with a time of 24.45.,
 
Cleaver took second in the men's 50 freestyle with a time of 21.22 and Lincicum tied for third with a time of 21.80.
 
In the women's 100 freestyle, Masters placed first with a time of 52.78.
 
Redding took second in the men's 100 freestyle with a time of 46.91.
 
In the women's 100 backstroke, Donnelly took second with a time of 58.48.
 
Hansson took second in the men's 100 backstroke with a time of 50.78.
 
Ciriesi took first in the women's 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.27 and Morris Larkin took third with a time of 1:08.69.
 
Mortimer took first in the men's 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.48 and Sullaka placed third with a time of 58.76.
 
In the women's 500 freestyle, Kapla pla ed second with a time of 5:15.86 and Mackay finished in third with a time of 5:18.02.
 
The Monarchs claimed the top two spots in the men's 500 freestyle. Ari placed first with a time of 4:39.00 and Bremer took second finishing with a time of 4:39.12.
 
Yevminova took second in the women's 50 butterfly with a time of 26.47 and Donnelly took thirf with a time of 26.73.
 
In the men's 50 butterfly, Cleaver took first with a time of 22.62 and Davis took third with a time of 23.32.
 
In the women's 100 IM, Ciriesi took second with a time of 59.83.
 
Mortimer took first in the men's 100 IM with a time of 51.65 and Schattenberg placed third with a time of 53.25.
 
ODU placed second in the women's 400 freestyle relay. The team of Masters, Kristi Mosley, Peyton Turner and Dunworth finished in 3:39.11.
 
In the men's 400 freestyle relay, Old Dominion took second which featured Cleaver, Bounds, Lincicum and Redding finshing in 3:06.73.
 
The Monarchs will wrap up their home meets on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. against American for senior day at the Scrap Chandler Pool.
