NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion head men's basketball coach Jeff Jones announced on Monday the signing of Sam Hood as part of the 2023 recruiting class. Hood, a 6-foot-10, forward from Raleigh, North Carolina joins the Monarchs from Brunswick Community College.
"I think Sam is a real sleeper. He will provide us with size, athleticism, and a versatile offensive skill set," said Jones. "He can score on the block and is an outstanding three-point shooter. Can't wait to get to work with Sam."
Hood averaged 9.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, while hitting 56% from the floor and 35% from 3-point range. He had 16 games in double figures scoring topped by 19 against Cape Fear Community College. Hood hauled in a season-high 13 rebounds against Hagerstown Community College and 11 against Allegany College of Maryland.
He attended Millbrook High School in Raleigh where he was on the basketball team and played quarterback for the football team. Hood had offers from Austin Peay, Manhattan and Drexel among others.
Hood joins R.J. Blakney, Tyrone Williams, Yamari Allette, Vasean Allette, Devin Ceaser and Daniel Pounds as members of the 2023 recruiting class.
