Men's Basketball Announces Addition Of Daniel Pounds For 2023-24 Recruiting Class

NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University men's basketball head coach Jeff Jones announced the signing of Daniel Pounds as part of the 2023 recruiting class on Wednesday. Pounds is a 6-foot-8, 205-pound forward from Atlanta, Georgia.
 
"Daniel is an extremely athletic young man with a very engaging personality. Because of his athleticism, he has a very high ceiling and because of his personality he will instantly be a hit for Monarch Nation," said Jones.
 
Pounds attended Forests Park High School where he was a two-sport athlete playing football and basketball. His team made the Sweet 16 of the Georgia State Championships for the first time in school history during his tenure. He followed that at Newton County High School for a senior season that saw him average 20 points and 10 rebounds per game as his team made the state tournament Final Four.
 
He played AAU ball for Atlanta Xpress and is currently he is playing a post-graduate season at Spire Institute.
 
"In my heart, this is the right place for me to be," said Pounds. "ODU is more than just a school or an organization to be a part of, it is a family and a group of people that cares about their students and players in and out of school. I am looking forward to my four years at Old Dominion."
