ODU Sailing Gears Up for a Weekend Full of CompetionODU Sailing Gears Up for a Weekend Full of Competion

NORFOLK, Va. - ODU Sailing continues competition in the 2026 spring season this weekend with three events. ODU’s open sailing team heads to Alexandria, Va. to partake in the John Jackson Team Race while the women’s sailing team competes in the Jen Harris Team Race, both events take place from March 7-8. The Monarchs wrap up the weekend’s events on Sunday for the Diamondback Women’s Fleet Race in Annapolis, Md.

For the John Jackson Team Race, senior skipper Diogo Silva and senior skipper Lindsey Kaufmann will be paired together in boat one. Sophomore skipper Pierce Brindley and freshman crew Maddy Blivins will command boat two. Junior Skipper Blake Goodwin and senior crew Cadence Goodnight will be in boat three. Freshman crew James O’Leary will serve as the alternate for the Silver and Blue.

In the Jen Harris Team Race, junior skipper Gianna Dewey and freshman skipper Mary Petra Humphrey will lead the way in boat one. In boat two, freshman skipper Arabella Duer and junior crew Morgan Auth will be all ahead full while in boat three Marina Conde and Molly Hanson hold the reins. Junior skipper Olivia Gilmore will serve as alternate for the Monarchs.

For the weekend finale, ODU will have two boats sail in the Diamondback Women’s Fleet Race. Freshman skipper Esther Ireland will be paired up with freshman crew Helena Allocco in boat one. Boat two will consist of freshman crew Emily Priest and senior crew Kristin Johnson.

Old Dominion’s open team is back in action on Saturday, March 14 for the Graham Hall Team Race hosted by Navy. The women’s team will be in action on Sunday, March 15 for the St. Mary’s (Md.) Women’s Fleet Race.
