About ODU:
The Monarchs travel to Louisiana and are looking to maintain their unbeaten Sun Belt campaign against the Rajun Cajuns. ODU remains at the top of the Sun Belt East Division and after defeating Georgia Southern, they now sit in first in the SBC. Texas State (7-2-5), 4-0-3 SBC) and ULM (9-2-3, 4-0-3 SBC) are now second and third.
Senior midfielder Balcazar netted her first goal of the season last time out against Georgia Southern and created another goal as well in a 2-1 victory. Ashley Economopoulos remains one of the focal points of the Monarch trident in the attacking third now. She added another assist to her season tally (4) last game against the Eagles, which is second amongst the Monarchs. Dylan McEntarfer netted her first goal this past weekend off a lovely set piece assisted by Balcazar. The freshman defender from Virginia Beach, VA has played in all 13 games and made seven starts.
Erin Jones returned to the starting XI against Georgia Southern and got the win against Georgia Southern. She recorded 2 saves and has been in net in seven games.
About Louisiana:
The Ragin Cajuns will look to rebound off a 3-2 loss to James Madison, as they host the Monarchs in the bayou.
Sophomore forward Carson Glenn and Senior forward Salma Elhaimer lead ULL’s front line with five and four goals on the season, respectively. Glenn ranks 4th for shots in the Sun Belt on the season.
Junior goalkeeper Natalie Myers has been the main starter for the Rajun Cajuns as well. She has started in all 14 matches and is top 10 in the conference in shutouts, saves, save percentage, and goals against average. She will ask a lot of the Monarch forwards if she maintains the solid form going into this weekend’s game.
Up Next:
The Monarchs will round out the regular season with a 2-game home stretch against Arkansas St, Friday October 24th, for Senior night.
