KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Bryce Mortimer won the 200 breaststroke with a school record time of 1:55.54 at the Atlantic Sun Championships to lead the way for the Old Dominion men’s swimming team on Saturday night in Orlando.
Mortimer’s time was an NCAA B-Cut time. Toni Sallaku added a 15th place spot in 2:05.62 and August Eriksson finished 16th with a time of 2:05.62.
Grey Bremer led off the Monarchs with a sixth-place finish in the 1650 with a time of 15:55.85 and Carson Doll placed eighth with a time of 16:05.36. Cooper Beebe added a 12th place spot in 16:16.43, Xander Schreck finished 14th in 16:43.79 and Toni Sallaku took 16th in a time of 17:12.56.
Redding finished third in the 100 breaststroke with an NCAA B-Cut time of 43.00. Ryan Lincicum finished 10th with a time of 45.06 and Robby Young took 15th with a time of 45.39.
In the 200 backstroke, Gustaf Hansson led the Monarchs with a fifth-place spot with a time of 1:47.27. Jordan Davis competed in the B-Final to place 12th with a time of 1:53.32.
At the Sun Belt Championships, Sophia Kapla began the night with a fifth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:05.31. Anna Eberle earned an 11th place spot in 17:50.65, Sydney Welker came in 12th in 18:02.41, Lilly Cleal finished 14th in 18:18.32 and Elissa Profaca took 15th in 21:35.70.
Linnea Kalebo followed with another fifth-place spot in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:01.19. Kiersten Donnelly grabbed 11th with a time of 2:03.24, Kristilynn Mosley finished 13th in 1:32.57 and Mallory Mackay 14th with a time of 2:09.59.
In the 100 free, Lauren Masters won the B-Final to place ninth with a time of 51.83 with Mary Dunworth coming in 14thin 53.47, Bella Pachek 15th in 53.56 and Angela Sicaja 16th with a time of 54.27.
The 200 breaststroke saw Marian Cheramy finish 12th with a time of 2:21.85, Julia de Camargo Gusso finish 15th in 2:23.94 and Jadyn Whitt come in 16th in a time of 2:30.04.
Angela Sicaja took 12th in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:10.33, while Anna Eberle finished 12th in 2:21.18.
The Monarchs finished the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay as Ben Schattenberg, Young, Lincicum and Redding delivered a time of 2:57.95.
Both the men's and women's teams finished fourth at their respective championships.
