NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football takes to the road for the second-straight week as the Monarchs travel to Southern Miss on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.

Game Notes Old Dominion      Southern Miss

• Old Dominion returns to Southern Miss for the first time since 2015, on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 7 p.m. ET. It will be the first time these two teams play since 2016.

• ODU is coming off a 41-35 loss at Marshall last week. Southern Miss lost last week to Texas State.

• Old Dominion running back Kadarius Calloway carried 11 times for 236 yards and three touchdowns against Marshall. He scored on runs of 69, 70 and 75 yards and set an ODU single-game record with 21.5 yards per carry. Calloway and Wyoming's Harrison Waylee are the only players in the country to record three, 60+ yard runs. Waylee's came in three separate games compared to Calloway's three last week.

• Calloway's three touchdowns were the first three by an ODU running back this season.

• Quarterback Jack Shields made his first career start at quarterback and on the the play of the game rushed 66 yards for a touchdown. It was the longest run by a quarterback in ODU history.

• Linebacker Jason Henderson led ODU with a game-high 16 tackles and a pair of tackles for loss. He now has 20 career double-digit tackle games.

Calloway Runs Wild
Kadarius Calloway had five carries for 25 yards going into last week's game at Marshall. Against the Thundering Herd he had 11 attempts for 236 yards and three touchdowns. He is the first player in ODU history to record three runs of 65+ yards in one game and the first played in ODU history to have two 70+yard runs.

His 236 yards are the third most by a player this season and his 75-yard run is the 11th longest run this season by an FBS player.

Not Just Calloway for ODU
Old Dominion rushed 31 times for 339 yards at Marshall on Saturday, the most yards gained against FBS team and third most in school history. ODU averaged a school record 10.9 yards per carry. Including Calloway's three runs of 69, 70 and 75 yards, quarterback Jack Shields also had a 66-yard touchdown run. The 339 yards is the 17th most by an FBS team so far this season and the seventh most against an FBS team.

Returning All-American Jason Henderson
Junior linebacker recorded a game-high 16 tackles, two tackles for loss last week at Marshall.

The 16 tackles gave him his 20th double-digit tackle game of his career and fourth of the season.

Adding to his tackling prowess, Henderson has improved on the tackles for loss department. He already has 10.5 tackles for loss on the year, surpassing his total of 10 last season.

Last year Henderson led the country in tackles in 2022 with 186. He led the No. 2 tackler in the nation by 39 and the No. 2 tackler in the Sun Belt by 51.

Henderson Searching for More Records
In just 29 career games played, Jason Henderson is now third in ODU history with 341 career tackles and is nine from tying Jordan Young's all-time record. He moved into second last week passing Craig Wilkins.

Sun Belt Tackle Leaders
Safety Terry Jones and linebacker Jason Henderson are No. 1 and 2 in the Sun Belt in tackling by a good margin. Henderson leads the league with 75 stops and Jones is second with 56. Teammate Wayne Matthews is not far behind in fourth with 44 tackles.
