Men’s Basketball Starts Homestand With Charlotte Saturday Night

NORFOLK, Va. – Coming off a three-game road swing, the Old Dominion men's basketball team will start a three-game homestand on Saturday night with the second contest against Charlotte in four days.
 
These teams made-up their Jan. 8 game on Wednesday night in Charlotte as the 49ers held off several last chance efforts by the Monarchs in a 71-67 decision inside Halton Arena. 
 
C.J. Keyser had 20 points to lead four Monarchs in double figures, while Austin Trice had a double-double of 15 points and 14 rebounds.  Mekhi Long added 12 points and six rebounds, while Jaylin Hunter chipped in with 11 points.  The Monarchs outrebounded Charlotte 44-28, with a 13-3 advantage on the offensive boards.
 
Charlotte was topped by Jahmir Young with 21 points, while Austin Butler added 12 and Aly Khalifa had 10 points for the 49ers.
 
Saturday's game is part of the National Association of Basketball Coaches vs. Cancer Suits and Sneakers week.  ODU Head Coach Jeff Jones will be wearing sneakers that will be decorated with drawings by Kalu Ezikpe.
