No. 34 Men's Tennis Hosts W&M Sunday for SENIOR DAY

NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 34 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (15-6) will host William & Mary (10-8) on Sunday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center for the regular season finale. This will be the last home match for five Monarch seniors, who will be honored before the match. Fans are asked to arrive by 12:35 p.m. on Sunday for the Senior Day festivities.

The five seniors who will be honored prior to Sunday’s match are: Javier Jover Maestre, Adam Moundir, Jacob Nicolussi, Vincent Schneider and Michael Weindl. This year’s senior class has taken the Monarchs to back-to-back C-USA Championship matches and achieved a Top 30 national ranking in three consecutive seasons. This senior class won 81 dual matches for ODU. Between the Fall and Spring and all five seniors combined in singles and doubles, Jover Maestre, Moundir, Nicolussi, Schneider and Weindl have accumulated 533 total wins.

The Tennis Monarchs have claimed victory in nine of their last 10 matches, while outscoring their opponents 40-14 during that stretch. ODU is also riding a seven-match win-streak in which the Monarchs have outscored their opponents 30-9.

The Monarchs have an overall singles record of 73-33 and a doubles record of 31-25. Below is a recap of the success ODU has already had so far this season.

Meet William & Mary
Jeff Kader is in the midst of his third season at the helm of the Tribe program. He helped guide W&M to the CAA Championship match in 2017 and the program reached its highest national ranking since 2010 during his tenure. In his first season, he was named the 2015 Conference USA Coach of the Year. This season, the Tribe currently holds a 10-8 record. They started off the season on a roll, winning their first five matches and they have also won three of their last five matches.

Looking Ahead for the Monarchs
After the conclusion of Senior Day against William & Mary, the Monarchs will have finished off the regular season. The next journey ODU men’s tennis will take will be at for the C-USA Tournament which begins on Friday, April 20 in Houston, Texas.
