NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 35 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (13-6) will take on VCU (10-6) on Sunday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. in Richmond, Va. The Tennis Monarchs have claimed victory in seven of their last eight matches, while outscoring their opponents 32-11 during that stretch. ODU is also riding a five-match win-streak in which the Monarchs have outscored their opponents 22-6.

Meet VCU
The Rams have won two of their last three matches and are 10-6 overall. This season, VCU men’s tennis is in the midst of their 28th year under head coach Paul Kostin. Under Kostin, the Rams have won 74% of their matches, appeared in the NCAA tournament 21 times and won 18 conference championships – including three in the last six years. In addition, Kostin is one of only four coaches in NCAA history to record over 1000 wins. The Rams 8-3 in matches played in Richmond this season. VCU currently holds a 3-0 conference record. This weekend, the Rams will face UNC Wilmington before taking on ODU this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST.
Looking Ahead for the Monarchs
Following their match against VCU, the Monarchs will have a week off before facing Drake on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EST in Des Moines, Iowa. They will then come back home for the regular season finale and Senior Day against William & Mary on Sunday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. That is the final match before the Conference USA tournament begins on April 20 in Houston, Texas.
