MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The No. 35 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (12-6) took down Florida Atlantic (12-7) by a 4-1 score on Saturday. The Tennis Monarchs have now claimed victory in six of their last seven matches, while outscoring their opponents 28-10 during that stretch.
“Our struggle in doubles continues, but we are doing a good job not allowing that to impact our singles play,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “The guys did a phenomenal job again being focused in singles from start to finish. FAU beat us last year at home, so we wanted to reverse that result. We will finish the weekend against Charlotte tomorrow, which will be a great test to stay focused for three days in a row.”
Old Dominion will return to action tomorrow, Sunday, March 18 against Charlotte (9-8) at 10:00 a.m. Sunday will mark the third match in as many days for the Monarchs.
Meet Charlotte
Jeremy Feldman is only in his second season as the head coach of the 49ers men’s tennis program. Last year, in his first season, he guided Charlotte to 12 wins and a fifth seed in the C-USA Tournament. This season the 49ers currently hold an 8-8 record. Freshman Luca Keist has made an immediate impact to the program, as he is currently nationally ranked at No. 106 for singles.
