NORFOLK, Va. -- In a game that featured five lead changes, Old Dominion dropped game two against Florida Atlantic, 12-7, on Saturday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Complex.
After scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth, Old Dominion (7-11, 0-2 C-USA) led, 7-6, entering the ninth inning, but Florida Atlantic (15-4, 2-0 C-USA) scored six in the ninth to pull out the series-clinching victory.
Brett Smith had a quality start for the Monarchs, allowing just one earned run in six innings of work. However, the Owls scored a total of nine runs in the final two innings off of the ODU bullpen. Corey Klak received the loss for the Monarchs.
At the plate, Matt Schwarz went 2-for-5 with an RBI, while Bryce Windham and Will Morgan both had two hits and scored two runs. Culver Lamb knocked in two runs.
The series finale is set for tomorrow at 11 a.m. ET. Morgan Maguire will get the start against FAU's Vince Coletti.
