No. 35 Tennis Monarchs Dominate Middle Tennessee, 4-0

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The No. 35Old Dominion men’s tennis team (11-6) swept Middle Tennessee (12-4) by a 4-0 a score on Friday. The Tennis Monarchs have now claimed victory in five of their last six matches, while outscoring their opponents 24-9 during that stretch.

“I’m so proud of this group today,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “Conference matches are always special, especially on the road. We found our relaxed intensity and carried it throughout the match. Now we have to refocus for another quality opponent in FAU tomorrow.”

Old Dominion will next face FAU (12-6) on Saturday, Mar 17 at 10:00 a.m., before the third match in as many days against Charlotte (8-8) on Sunday, Mar 18 at 10:00 a.m.

Meet FAU 
Ricardo Gonzalez is in the midst of his third season as the head coach of FAU’s men’s tennis program. He has improved the number of wins in each of his first two seasons improving to double-digit wins in both. Last year FAU finished with an overall record of 13-8. This year they are on track to surpass last year’s win total as they currently hold a 12-6 record. The Owls currently boast the No. 62 nationally ranked doubles tandem in Remi Chancerel and Gabriel Sidney. They will play five of their last eight regular season matches on the road.

Meet Charlotte 
Jeremy Feldman is only in his second season as the head coach of the 49ers men’s tennis program. Last year, in his first season, he guided Charlotte to 12 wins and a fifth seed in the C-USA Tournament. This season the 49ers currently hold an 8-8 record. Freshman Luca Keist has made an immediate impact to the program, as he is currently nationally ranked at No. 106 for singles.
