ODU head coach Jeff Jones will be barefoot during the ODU-Southern Miss game to show support for Samaritan's Feet,  a non-rpofit organization dedicated to providing shoes and proper footcare to underprivileged youth in African nations.

RADIO
The Monarchs radio broadcasts are on ESPN 94.1 in Hampton Roads; WZEZ 100.5 in Richmond and WBRG 104.5 FM & 1050 AM in Lynchburg, Va. Play-by-Play announcer is Ted Alexander. Billy Mann will serve as color analyst for all home games. Dave Twardzik will be a contributor to Monarch Courtside pre-game show at home games and color commentary for all road games. Rick Kiefner will host the Monarch Courtside program at home games.

SERIES VS. SOUTHERN MISS
ODU leads the series, 6-0. The two teams last played in 1992-93 with ODU winning at the Scope Arena, 99-84 and at USM, 113-105. ODU freshman All-American Odell Hodge scored 34 points with 18 boards and 32 points and 12 rebounds.  

SOUTHERN MISS MICHAEL CRAIG – C-USA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The 6-5 Craig led Southern Miss to a 2-0 week with wins over Louisiana Tech and Rice. He averaged 16.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.5 steals. He also connected on 87.5-percent (14-of-16) from the floor, missing just two shots in two games. Craig began the week coming off the bench in an 84-62 victory over Rice. He scored 16 points, and grabbed seven rebounds. Craig was 6-of-7 from the field and a perfect 4-for-4 from the foul line. The senior followed that up by earning the start in an 80-71 victory over Conference USA leader Lou¬isiana Tech, who was receiving votes in the Associated Press poll. Craig recorded his fifth double-double of the year and sixth of his career, scoring 17 points and pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds. He also held Louisiana Tech's Michale Kyser, who came into the game averaging 7.6 rebounds and 3.9 blocks, to just two rebounds and zero blocks. For the week, Craig's performance on the boards helped Southern Miss outrebound the opposition by a combined 45 rebounds. Craig is currently fourth in the league in field goal percentage (.600) and eighth in rebounding (7.8).

LAST GAME
ODU defeated FAU, 65-60. Trailing by 10, 40-30 with 13:26 left in the game the Monarchs rallied to take the lead 54-53 on a Jumper by Richard Ross with 4:52 left, and never relinquished the lead again. Keenan Palmore led with 15 points, while Denzell Taylor added a career high tying 14. ODU committed only nine turnovers and forced FAU into 15.

RECORD NUMBER OF MONARCH DEAN'S LIST STUDENTS TO BE HONORED AT FEB. 27TH GAME NORFOLK - A record number of Old Dominion University student athletes earned Dean’s List honors for the Fall, 2013 semester with Grade Point Averages of 3.4 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

Thirty per cent, or 144 student athletes, achieved the honor and will be recognized on Feb. 27 during halftime activities of the Monarchs vs. Marshall basketball game at the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

Of the 473 athletes enrolled at ODU last semester, 16 earned perfect 4.0’s, while 277 (or 58%) posted GPA’s of a 3.0 or higher. Twelve of the Monarchs’ 18 teams, including all nine women’s sports, posted combined GPA’s of a 3.0 or higher, led by women’s golf (3.34), women’s swimming (3.30), women’s tennis (3.30), field hockey (3.26), women’s soccer (3.26), lacrosse (3.18), men’s tennis (3.12), women’s rowing (3.12), women’s sailing (3.07), women’s basketball (3.04), and baseball and wrestling (3.0).
