NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University women’s soccer team dropped the season finale to Charlotte, 3-1, on Thursday, which was Senior Night at the ODU Soccer Complex.

Old Dominion honored six seniors prior to the game as Sara Brock, Nikki Clarke, Amber Cook, Meghan Cozens, Samantha Hinson and Kayla Hufford all took the field for the last time in an ODU uniform.

Scoring started off in the 1st minute, when Charlotte’s Maddie Kiebel led Perri Bonner to the right side of field, where Bonner put away her third goal this season to the left side of the net.

The Lady Monarchs answered right back in the 9th minute of play, when senior Meghan Cozens netted her first goal of the year off an Jessie Klamut touch pass, to bring the score back to level pecking for the first half.

In the second half, it was Charlotte who was able to take control and the lead in the 53rd minute when Sara Trexler ripped a shot from 28’ past Old Dominion’s goalkeeper, Erin Kinz.

The 49ers sealed the deal in the 59th minute, as Amanda Jones scored her team leading eighth goal of the year from 36’, giving Charlotte a 3-1 advantage and victory.

Charlotte moves to 10-6-2 on the year, while Old Dominion finishes the season 1-13-3.
