John Penn

John Penn enters his second season as the Volunteer Assistant for Old Dominion baseball. Penn comes to ODU from Iowa Western Community College, where he served as an assistant coach.

Penn completed his second season at Iowa Western in 2018, helping lead the squad to a 54-7 overall record and a spot in the Juco World Series. The Reivers hit .357 as a team and averaged 8.5 runs per game.

At Iowa Western, Penn worked closely with the Reivers' catchers and hitters, and also assisted with recruiting.

Prior to Iowa Western, Penn spent his first 2 seasons coaching at Bluffton University, a DIII school located in Ohio, where he served as the graduate assistant.

A native of Ohio, Penn graduated from Wabash College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Rhetoric and went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a Sports Management concentration from Bluffton University. At Wabash, Penn was a relief pitcher and a member of the 2011 NCAC Conference Championship team.
