The 2009 Minor League Pitcher of the Year, Dan Hudson began the 2010 season with an 11-4 record with the White Sox AAA affiliate Charlotte Knights before getting the call to the Show on July 10. He was 1-1 with Chicago before his trade to the Arizona Diamondbacks where he compiled a 7-1 record with a 1.69 earned run average along with 70 strikeouts in 79.2 innings of work, and walked only 16 batters. Among those victories this season were two wins over World Series champion San Francisco Giants, a win over the Central Division Champion Cincinnati Reds as well as the L.A. Dodgers. In the Month of August, Hudson was named National League Co-Rookie of the Month.
Hudson enjoyed a stellar career at Old Dominion where he was a two-time All-CAA pitcher who compiled a 20-14 record. Hudson is ODU's third all-time strikeout leader with 295 behind two other ODU Major Leaguers, Justin Verlander ('04) and Kevin Bearse ('87). The fifth round draft pick was also CAA Rookie of the Year and Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American. He also pitched Princess Anne High School to the 2005 VHSL State title.
Professional Career:Traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 30th for Edwin Jackson....He was 1-1 with a 6.32 ERA with 14 strikeouts in 15.2 innings... Hudson was 11-4 with the White Sox AAA affiliate Charlotte Knights before getting the call on July 10. He compiled a 3.47 earned run average with 108 strikeouts in 93.1 innings of work. Opponent hitters were only batting .228 against the two-time All-CAA pitcher.
Dan was 20-14 at ODU with a 3.79 ERA and ranked third all-time at ODU in career strikeouts with 295, behind two other ODU Major Leaguers,Justin Verlander with 427 ('04) and Kevin Bearse with 329('87). The 2006 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American led Princes Anne High school to the 2005 Virginia AAA State Championship.
In 2009 Hudson made six appearances and two starts for Chicago with a 1-1 record and a 3.38 ERA. Hudson was MLB.com Minor League Starting Pitcher of the Year last year as he was 14-5 with a 2.32 ERA.

2007: First Team All-CAA... CAA All-Tournament Team... Second Team All-State by VaSID... started on the hill in all 15 of his appearances... posted a mark of 8-5 with an ERA of 3.46... second in the CAA in innings pitched (106.2) and strikeouts (109)... opponents batted just .235 against him which ranked fourth in the league... tossed two complete games... led the team with three pickoffs... went more than 6.1 innings in all but two of his starts... had his best outing of the season vs. Delaware (Apr. 20), tossing a complete game with 15 strikeouts... allowed just four hits and one earned run in that 2-1 victory... the 15 strikeouts were the most on the year for an ODU pitcher... struck out five and allowed just one hit over five innings pitched in the season opener vs. Maryland-Eastern Shore (Feb. 9)... threw another complete game against UNCW in the CAA Tournament... struck out 11 in an eight inning win at James Madison (Mar. 9)... registered at least seven strikeouts in nine of his 15 appearances...Pitched in the Cape Cod League this summer.
