NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion set three pool records on Friday afternoon as the men’s and women’s swim team defeated American at the JC Scrap Chandler Pool.

The meet began with the women’s 200 medley relay team of Addie Elliott, Adrienne Rinker, Emma Seidel and Bella Pachek won the opening event with a pool record time of 1:44.16.

Addie Elliott gave ODU its second record of the day, securing a win in the 100 backstroke with a pool record time of 55.41.

Grey Bremer earned a pool record time in the 500 free with a winning time of 4:29.80. Evan Vinarov took second in a time of 4:43.84 and Cooper Beebe took third in a time of 4:44.01.

The men’s 200 medley relay team of Bryce Mortimer, Dawson Truong, Jordan Smolsky and Zachary Redding followed with a win with a time of 1:32.67.

Sophia Kapla led the women’s squad with a third-place finish in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:25.12.

Grey Bremer won the men’s 1000 free with a time of 9:32.99.

Kristilynn Mosley edged out Arielle Grabowski in the 200 free in a time of 1:55.43, while Linnea Kallebo took third in 1:55.96. Mosley added a second win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:04.50. Mosley added a second win in the 200 IM with a time of 2:06.84.

The men’s 200 free saw the Monarchs also go 1-2-3 as Nick Martin won in a time of 1:41.47 while Robby Young took second in a time of 1:44.07 and Evan Vinarov third in a time of 1:44.13.

Bryce Mortimer won the 100 backstroke with a time of 49.65, while Jordan Davis took second in 51.40 and Ben Schattenberg placed third in a time of 51.91. Mortimer earned his second win of the day with a time of 1:50.77, while Abd took second in 1:54.91 and Bryant Julian placed third in 2:10.47.

Jadyn Whitt took second in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:05.29 and Rinker placed third in a time of 1:05.58.

Dawson Truong won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.95, edging Toni Sallaku who placed second in 55.99. Michael Marotta took third in 57.86.

In the women’s 200 butterfly, Charlotte Everhart placed second in 2:08.66 and Linnea Kallebo took third in 2:09.25.

Lucas Abd won the 200 fly with a time of 1:52.29.

Pachek won the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.02, Zachary Redding won the men’s 50 free in a time of 20.22. Redding earned a second win in the 200 fly with a time of 49.11 while Smolsky took second in 51.18.

Pachek won the 100 free in a time of 52.22, while Truong earned his second win of the day with a time of 46.75.

In the men’s 200 backstroke, Ben Schattenberg triumphed in a time of 1:53.64.

Rinker won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:25.01, while Mortimer won the men’s 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:59.55. Sallaku took second with a time of 2:06.53 and Marotta placed third in a time of 2:09.15.

In the 500 free, Kapla took second in the 5:05.98. Anna Lupo placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 58.15 and Emma Seidel placed in a time of 58.83.

The 200 free relay was the final event of the meet as the Monarchs took second with a time of 1:38.00 with the team of Ally Hilbrich, Whitt, Grabowski and Pachek.

The men’s 200 free relay team of Young, Truong, Smolsky and Redding won with a time of 1:23.13.

The Monarchs hit the pool next at the ASUN Conference Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 18 in Orlando, Florida.
