NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University men’s swimming featured four student-athletes on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, as Zachary Redding, Gustaf Hansson, Bryce Mortimer and Owen Rolph earn the honors.
Among the criteria to be considered, an undergraduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). A graduate student-athlete must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as both an undergraduate and a grad student unless they are in their first semester as a graduate student and don't have an established graduate GPA. The cumulative grade point average may not be rounded up to 3.50. Student-athletes must compete in five competitions OR finish top-eight at a conference meet.
Hansson, a civil engineering major with a 4.0 GPA, placed fifth at the ASUN Championships in the 200-yard backstroke final with a time of 1:47.27. He also placed sixth in the 100 backstroke with a time of 48.02. He earned a spot on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
A 4.0 pre-nursing major, Redding was named the ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was on the ASUN All-Academic Team. He finished second in the 50 free with a time of 19.65 and third in the 100 free with a time of 43.00.
Mortimer holds a 3.86 GPA in sport management. He set the ODU record and won the ASUN Championship in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 1:55.54. He also placed second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 53.64. He earned a spot on the ASUN All-Academic Team.
Rolph has a 4.0 GPA and is majoring in biomedical science. A member of the ASUN All-Academic Team, he competed in the 100 free and the 100 and 200 butterfly at the ASUN Championships.
