Swimming Falls in 2025 Opener at Hampton Quad Meet

Old Dominion University swimming began the 2025 season in a quad dual meet at the Hampton Aquaplex against William & Mary, East Carolina, and Central Connecticut State. The ODU men fell to W&M, 143-119, while the women came up short against ECU, W&M and CCSU.

HAMPTON, Va. – Old Dominion University swimming began the 2025 season in a quad dual meet at the Hampton Aquaplex against William & Mary, East Carolina, and Central Connecticut State. The ODU men fell to W&M, 143-119, while the women came up short against ECU, W&M and CCSU.

ODU placed fourth in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:49.59, as Samantha Allred, Bridget Morris Larkin, Kiersten Donnelly and Bella Pachek was the squad for the Monarchs.

The team of Gustaf Jansson, August Eriksson, Jordan Davis and Zachary Redding finished second in the men’s 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.54.

Grey Bremer and Cooper Beebe went 1-2 in the men’s 1000 freestyle, with Bremer winning in a time of 9:53.59 and Beebe coming in second in 10:03.58. Bremer notched his second win of the day with a time of 4:39.37 in the 500 freestyle.

Ben Schattenberg earned a second-place spot in the men’s 200 freestyle with a time of 1:43.19.

Gustaf Hansson earned ODU’s first win in the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.82.

In the women’s 100 breaststroke, Mary Dunworth came in fifth in a time of 1:07.65.

In the men’s 100 breaststroke, August Eriksson notched a second-place finish with a time of 53.99.

Redding earned ODU’s second win of the day, earning a time of 1:52.32 to earn a victory in the 200 butterfly. He followed that with a second-place position in the 100 free with a time of 44.86.

In the men’s 200 breaststroke, Bryce Mortimer got ODU back in the win column with a time of 2:05.65.

Lauren Masters led ODU in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.81, while Kristilynn Mosley placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.09.

Mortimer notched his second win of the day, earning a time of 1:52.29 in the 200 IM.

In the final event of the day, the Monarchs won the 400 free relay, as Schattenberg, Ryan Lincicum, Brice Bounds and Redding triumphed in a time of 3:05.73. The team of Davis, Robby Young, Bremer and Dawson Truong came in second with a time of 3:08.32.
