TOWSON, Md. – The Old Dominion University Men’s Swimming team tied at Towson on Saturday, 143.5-143.5, while the women’s squad fell 237-56.

It was the first meet of the season for both teams. Johns Hopkins also competed but it was an exhibition match for the Blue Jays.

ODU began the meet by winning the men’s 200 medley relay as the team of Gustaf Hansson, August Eriksson, Jordan Davis and Jamie Cleaver had a winning time of 1:33.23. The team of Bryce Mortimer, Toni Sallaku, Dawson, Truong and Ryan Lincicum took third with a time of 1:34.09.

In the women’s 1000 freestyle, Sophia Kapla finished in third with a time of 10:52.66 and Anna Eberle took fourth with a time of 11:12.82.

Grey Bremer took second in the men’s 1000 freestyle with a time of 9:51.01, while Cooper Beebe placed fourth with a time of 10:02.70.

In the women’s 200 free, Lauren Masters finished third in 1:57.66.

Zach Redding took ODU’s first individual win in the men’s 200 free with a time of 1:42.67.

Gustaf Hansson made it back-to-back ODU wins for the men in the 100 backstroke, as he recorded a time of 50.88. Bryce Mortimer took fourth in 51.67.

Jadyn Whitt notched a third-place finish in the women’s 100 breaststroke.

August Eriksson made it three-straight men’s wins with a triumph in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 57.51. Dawson Truong placed third with a time of 58.47.

In the women’s 200 butterfly, Tetiana Yevminova placed third with a time of 2:12.59.

Jamie Cleaver continued the men’s win streak taking the top spot in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.24.

Redding added his second individual win taking the 50 free with a time of 21.02.

Redding then added his third win of the day with a time of 46.06 in the 100 free.

In the men’s 200 backstroke, Hansson finished second with a time of 1:54.99.

Bryce Mortimer added another win for the Monarchs with a time of 2:04.47 in the 200 breaststroke, while Toni Sallaku took fourth with a time of 2:11.43.

In the women’s 500 free, Lilly Cleal took third with a time of 5:18.94 while Anna Bearor finished fourth with a time of 5:19.10.

Bremer won his second event of the day with a time of 4:37.99 in the 500 freestyle. Cleaver came in second with a time of 4:42.83.

Yevminova added a fourth-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 59.27, while Eriksson finished fourth in the 100 fly with a time of 51.66.

In the 200 IM, Kristi Mosley placed fourth with a time of 2:13.40.

Mortimer notched another Monarch win with a time of 1:53.99 in the men’s 200 IM.

In the women’s 200 free relay, the team of Yevminova, Emma Seidel, Bella Pachek and Masters took fourth in 1:41.08.

The men’s 200 free relay team of Cleaver, Robby Young, Hansson and Redding won in a time of 1:24.02.

The Monarchs host Campbell next Saturday, Oct. 12 at 11 a.m.
