NORFOLK, Va. – The 2024 Academic All-District Men’s and Women’s At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), were announced on Tuesday and Old Dominion had nine student-athletes representing five different teams earn the distinction.
The CSC Academic All-America program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances both in competition and in the classroom. The program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
In order to be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have a minimum GPA of 3.50, must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, must be enrolled in their institution or a recent graduate during the current academic year, and must meet participation requirements based on their specific sport (i.e. competed in 70% of events that counted the team score for golf; competed in 90% of the team’s games or started 66% of the team’s games for field hockey and lacrosse; and competed in a minimum of four competitions or had at least one top eight finish at a conference championship meet for rowing).
The list of Monarchs earning Academic All-District honors included Jolene Ulichney and Rina Tsioles from field hockey; Jakob Chicoyne, Jacob Gunther, and Kazuki Yamauchi from men’s golf; Carley Rudolf from women’s golf; Callie Culhane and Lilly Siskind from lacrosse; and Lucy Brennan from women’s rowing.
Additionally, Tsioles was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. NCAA and NAIA Women’s At-Large Academic All-America First, Second and Third Team honorees will be announced on July 16 with the Men’s At-Large Team announced on July 17.
