ODU retook the lead in the fifth as Carter Sunderman and Kyle Edwards delivered one-out singles before a walk to Meier. With the bases loaded Waters hit one to third baseman Jack Doyle, who's throw was wide of the second baseman, allowing Sunderman and Edwards to score and moving Meier to third. The following play Waters was picked off of first and thrown out at second, but Meier scored to give the Monarchs a 4-3 lead.
Luke Beckstein tied the score at four in the sixth with a sacrifice fly before ODU retook the lead with three runs in the seventh.
Waters went 3-for-4 to lead the ODU offense, while Edwaters was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and Bouche was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
