Men's Basketball Hosts Virginia State In Exhibition Wednesday

NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion men's basketball team will host an exhibition game on Wednesday night as the Monarchs tangle with the Virginia State Trojans at 7 p.m. inside Chartway Arena. The contest will not be streamed, but can be heard on Priority Sports Radio ESPN 94.1 FM starting at 6:30 p.m. with Ted Alexander and Dennis Wolff.
 
ODU was preseason picked third in the Sun Belt Conference and enters the 2023-24 season with six returnees and nine newcomers to the roster. Chaunce Jenkins was selected to the Sun Belt Preseason First Team All-Conference after averaging 13.3 points per game last season.
 
Returning from last season are: Jason Wade, Imo Essien, Dericko Williams, Cooper Jones and Bryce Baker along with Jenkins.
 
New faces include freshmen: Vasean Allette, Yamari Allette, Dani Pounds and Jaylen Jenkins. Transfers joining the team this year are: Tyrone Williams (Oregon), Devin Ceaser (Buffalo), RJ Blakney (Dayton), Leeroy Odiahi (Indian Hills CC) and Sam Hood (Brunswick CC).
 
Virginia State was 17-11 last season and are coached by former Monarch assistant Lonnie Blow and former ODU standout Ricardo Marsh.

Men's and women's basketball season tickets for the upcoming 2023-24 season are available now at odusports.com/tickets.
 
Men's basketball season tickets cost $215 and include tickets for the Monarchs' exhibition on Oct. 25 and all 15 of ODU's regular season home games. Women's basketball season tickets cost $115 for adults and $500 for courtside seating and include tickets to all 15 of the Monarchs' home games. Season tickets represent a savings of more than $50 for men's games and $45 for women's games, over single-game tickets. Single-game tickets for regular season men's and women's basketball games will go on sale later in the month. Single-game ticket prices start at $15 for men's games and $11 for women's games, with special pricing for senior citizens, ODU faculty and staff, youth (12 and younger) and members of the military. ODU students can register for student tickets for free to any ODU men's and women's home game.
