NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's soccer team returns home for a Sun Belt Conference encounter with Louisiana on Thursday night at 7 p.m.
 
It will be Monarchs Give Back Night as fans who bring a non-perishable food item will be admitted for free. At halftime, former ODU standouts Katie Watson and Lisa Bernardini DeJohn will be recognized as they are part of the 2023 ODU Hall of Fame Class.
 
Old Dominion (6-0-2, 1-0-0) hits the home pitch after a 1-0 win at Coastal Carolina on Friday night. Anessa Arndt scored at 68:59 and the Monarchs made that stand up in the key road win. Emily Bredek recorded her sixth shutout of the season marshaling a Monarch defense that kept Coastal Carolina off the board.
 
Louisiana (3-3-2, 0-1-0) comes to Virginia after a 3-0 loss at Texas State on Sunday in San Marcos, Texas. The Ragin Cajuns had wins over McNeese (2-1), Northwestern State (1-0) and South Florida (2-0) earlier in the season.
 
This is the second all-time meeting between the schools as ODU won 1-0 on Sept. 16, 2022 in Lafayette, Louisiana as Megan Watts scored on a penalty kick in the 11th minute and the Monarchs made that stand for their first-ever Sun Belt Conference win.
 
ABOUT ODU
Thalia Morisi now leads the team in goals scored (3) and points (6) heading into conference play. Anna Tørsløv and Ece Turkoglu have scored two goals with one assist apiece for five points, while Andrea Balcazar Algarin, Rhea Kijowski and Ashlynn Kulha each have one goal and one assist for three points.
 
In the net, Emily Bredek is tied for the lead nationally in shutouts (6), second in goals against average (0.129) and fourth in save percentage (.950).
 
As a team, the Monarchs as of Wednesday are tied with Columbia for tops nationally in goals against average (.125), shutout percentage (.875) and second in save percentage (.950).
 
ODU is currently ranked ninth in the Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
 
ABOUT LOUISIANA
Megan Bradley leads Louisiana in scoring with goals (3) and points (7), while Sisley Stephens is second in goals (2) and points (5). Five players follow them with one goal apiece.
In the net, Makenna Garcia has three shutouts and a goals against average of 1.29 starting every match thus far.
