NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team will host an exhibition game on Wednesday night against the Christopher Newport University Captains at 7 p.m. inside Chartway Arena. This contest will not be streamed, but will be on Money Talk 1310 AM radio starting at 6:30 pm.
ODU was preseason picked ninth in the Sun Belt and will enter the 2022-23 season with a new look of seven new faces on the roster. Leading the returning crew is junior Mekhi Long who averaged 8.3 points, 6.8 rebounds, was second in blocked shots last year (25) and was tops in steals (52).
Returning from last season are: Charles Smith IV, Imo Essien, Jadin Johnson, D'Angelo Stines, P.J. Gill and Jason Wade.
New faces joining this season are Ben Stanley (Xavier), Tyreek Scott-Grayson (Northeastern), Tre Brown (Drexel), Chaunce Jenkins (Wichita State), Dericko Williams (Tallahassee CC), Faizon Fields (Chipola), along with freshmen Bryce Baker and Cooper Jones.
CNU return a group that includes eight seniors, including three fifth-year players. The Captains went 27-3 last season and made the Elite 8 in the NCAA Division III Championships.
Old Dominion opens the regular season on Monday, November 7 hosting Maryland Eastern Shore at 7 p.m. inside Chartway Arena.

Men's and women's basketball season tickets for the upcoming 2022-23 season are available now at ynottix.com.
Men's basketball season tickets cost $215 and include tickets for the Monarchs' exhibition on Nov. 2 and all 16 of ODU's regular season home games. Women's basketball season tickets cost $115 for adults and $250 for courtside seating and include tickets to all 15 of the Monarchs' home games. Special pricing is available for senior citizens, ODU faculty and staff, and members of the military. Call the ODU Ticket Office at 757-683-4444 to receive special pricing.
Season tickets represent a savings of more than $50 for men's games and $45 for women's games, over single-game tickets. Single-game tickets for regular season men's and women's basketball games will go on sale later in the month. Single-game ticket prices start at $18 for men's games and $11 for women's games, with special pricing for senior citizens, ODU faculty and staff, youth (12 and younger) and members of the military. ODU students can register for student tickets for free to any ODU men's and women's home game.
