NORFOLK, Va. – Delaware got a goal from Danika Swech with 37 seconds left and hung on to defeat Old Dominion University lacrosse 12-11 Saturday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex.

With the score tied at 10, Delaware took the lead on a goal from Lizzie Yurchak, but two minutes later Claire Porter connected with Sydney Taylor as Taylor tied the score at 11 with 6:33 remaining. With 37 seconds left, Swech got the ball at the top of the circle and raced to the front of the net and fired a shot just inside the left post for the game-winner.

Delaware (3-7) jumped out to a 3-0 lead two minutes in but Old Dominion (5-7) scored the next two from Lilly Siskind and Corrinne Stratton before Delaney McDaniel added another for UD to make the score 4-2.

The Monarchs responded with four-straight goals from four different players to take a 6-4 lead. Maddie Mullenbach pulled ODU to within one and Carolina Shaefer tied the score at four. Claire Porter gave ODU its first lead of the game and Taylor made it 6-4 early in the second quarter.
