MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – Noah Wilkins won the 100 freestyle, Tara Enneking placed third in the 200 breaststroke and the men's 400 freestyle relay team ended the night with a second place finish to complete the WVU Invitational.
"It has been a great weekend of racing for our Monarchs, exceeding expectations in many ways. Our swimmers stepped to challenges of each race, achieved numerous personal best times and season goals, and raised the bar for the remainder of our season both individually and as a team. We are looking forward to many successes to come," ODU head coach Jess Livsey said.
Wilkins gave ODU its first win of the night, taking home first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.88. Wilkins edged out Max Gustafson of West Virginia by .05. Liam Redman and Ryan Lincicum finished seventh and eighth respectively.
Summer Sampson got ODU on the board with a 10th place finish in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:02.49. Martina Ciriesi finished 16th while Peri Farling finished in 19th.
Jacob Cobb earned a third-place finish in the 200 backstroke for the men's team, finishing in 1:48.46. Gustaf Hansson took 14th and Hugo Eriksson placed 22nd.
Summer Miln added another 10th place for the women's team with a time of 51.88. Miranda Byrne won the C-Final with a time of 52.90 while Laila Webb placed 23rd.
Elin Kata Sigurgeirsdottir placed eighth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:33.05. Brynn Jewell came in 11th with a time of 17:40.25 while Byrne was 12th in 17:58.98. Kinsey Rushevics finished 15th, Sydnee Blackburn 17th, Brigid Donnelly 18th and Julia de Camargo Gusso finished 20th.
In the men's 1650, Carson Doll clocked in a time of 15:57.79 to finish in fourth, while Thomas Ray came in seventh in a time of 16:19.24. Will McDermott notched a 14th place spot while Brennan Carroll took 16th.
In the women's 200 breaststroke, Tara Enneking came in third and Ciriesi glided home in fifth. Enneking recorded a time of 2:17.64 while Ciriesi finished in 2:22.18. Gabby Tosi finished. 13th as de Camargo Gusso came in 14th, Callie Dunham in 15th and Kristina Zachary finished in 15th.
For the men's 200 breaststroke, Hugo Eriksson notched a 12th place finish in 2:11.40, as AJ Profaca was on his heels in 13th in 2:12.50. Mason Schlang came in 20th and Cason Forst in 21st.
Sugurgeirsdottir led the way for ODU in the 200 butterfly with an 11th place finish with a time of 2:08.51. Jewell came in 15th in 2:10.89, while Zachary and Blackburn came in 19th and 20th, respectively.
Anthony Capizzi registered a 10th place position with a time of 1:53.14 and Oskar. Iwarsson came in 16th, Zander Johnson in 17th, Liam Garbutt in 20th and Owen Rolph in 22nd.
The final event of the three-day meet was the 400 freestyle relay, as the ODU team of Enneking, Byrne, Webb and Miln came in sixth with a time of 3:28.53.
ODU finished second in the men's 400 free relay to complete the meet, as Redman, Lincicum, Cobb and Wilkins finished in 3:01.19.
