NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football wrapped up its fourth week of spring practice with its third scrimmage at Kornblau Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

"This was our most extensive scrimmage. I thought in general it was physical and the guys played hard," ODU head coach Ricky Rahne said. "We need convert better offensively, we had a couple of opportunities for some big plays, and defensively we need to hone in on our techniques and avoid penalties."

The Monarchs have now completed 12 practices this spring. Today's scrimmage of 99 plays was the longest this spring.

"I did think we made two really good plays on the ball on defense. Steven Williams made an incredible interception," Rahne said.

ODU has three more practices this week and culminates spring practice with the spring scrimmage on Saturday, April 3.

"Trying to improve and become better players every single day. That's what I'm looking forward to, is watching guys on these last three practices really. To have a focused effort on what they're trying to get better at," Rahne added.

The spring scrimmage will be broadcast on ESPN Radio 94.1. ODU plans to allow the previous maximum attendance of 1,000 spectators, which will consist of family and friends of the team and staff, administration, as well as ODU students, band, and spirit squads.
