ODU Welcomes Maryland Eastern Shore to Chartway Arena for 2PM Tip on Sunday on C-USA TV

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion men's basketball team (3-9, 0-0 C-USA) will conclude action in 2019 by playing host to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (1-12, 0-0 MEAC) on Sunday, Dec. 22 for a 2:00 p.m. tip at Chartway Arena. Sunday's game will stream on C-USA TV. Wednesday's contest will also air across the ODU Sports Radio Network, with Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik's live pregame show beginning at 1:30 p.m. ET.

All-Time Series:
Sunday afternoon's contest will mark the 11th time that these two programs have met, as ODU leads the all-time series 10-0. These two schools last met during the 2017-18 season, in a game that the Monarchs claimed an 83-44 victory over the Hawks. All 10 previous games between these two teams have been played in Norfolk. Old Dominion and UMES first met during the 1981-82 season, in a game that ODU won 84-57. Old Dominion has beaten the Hawks by at least 10 points in each of the previous 10 meetings.
 
Old Dominion
Xavier Green has led the Monarchs so far this season, averaging 14.4 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds. After his first two games in a Monarch uniform, A.J. Oliver II is currently ODU's second leading scoring, as the Clemson-transfer is going for 12.5 points per contest. Malik Curry follows with 9.7 ppg, while Jason Wade is right behind him scoring at a 9.3 ppg clip. For the season, Wade already has 36 steals (3rd in the nation). The school record for steals in a season is 91 by Brandon Johnson in 2007-08.
 
Aaron Carver's 101 total rebounds this season rank 54th in the NCAA. For his career, he has hauled down 471 rebounds, just 29 shy of reaching the 500 mark.

Old Dominion ranks 38th in the country for total steals so far this season with 100.
 
Jeff Jones' 500 career wins as a head coach rank 71st in NCAA Division I history and 25th among active coaches.
 
UMES
The Hawks enter Sunday's contest with a 1-12 record, with their only victory coming over Clarks Summit University. UMES has been led by Ty Gibson's 7.6 points per outing. Head coach Jason Crafton is in the midst of his first season at the helm.
