NORFOLK, Va. -- True freshman Aaron Holiday picked up the win in his first career start and the Old Dominion baseball team defeated Princeton, 3-1, in a pitchers' duel on Tuesday afternoon at the Bud Metheny Complex.
On a brisk day with the wind blowing in at The Bud, the Old Dominion (14-5) pitching staff held Princeton (3-10) to just three hits. Holiday, on a pitch count, earned the win allowing just one unearned run on one hit in four innings of work.
The bullpen consisting of Jason Hartline, Michael Parmentier, Isaiah Nelson and Matt Busher then combined to throw five shutout innings of relief. Busher earned his team-leading third save of the season.

Offensively, ODU manufactured just four hits, but received big ones from Andy Garriola, who hit a two-run home run in the third, and Matt Burch, who had a two-out base knock in the fourth. The home run was Garriola's third of the season.
The Monarchs go for the midweek sweep of Princeton tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET. Tommy Gertner is expected to start for the Monarchs.
