CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. -- Old Dominion fell to Virginia, 4-0, in midweek action on Tuesday evening at Davenport Field in Charlottesville.
The loss marked the first time Old Dominion (10-17) has been shut out since May 20th of last year at Florida Atlantic.
VIrginia (16-13) scored three runs in the bottom of the first and that proved to be all of the offense the Cavaliers would need. UVA added an insurance run in the fourth.
The Monarchs threw a trio of true freshmen. Ryne Moore (4 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 0 K) received the loss in his first career start. Jason Hartline (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K) and Luke Krantz (2 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K) then came on to throw a combined four innings of no-hit, shutout relief.
At the plate, Culver Lamb (2-4) was the lone Monarch with two hits. Kyle Battle (1-3, HBP), Erik Stock (1-4, 2B) and Vinnie Pasquantino (1-4) also had hits.
ODU is now 3-3 in midweek games and 3-2 against schools from the Commonwealth of Virginia.
