NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University football all-time leading rusher, Ray Lawry, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday night following the NFL Draft.
Lawry played in nine games last season rushing for 742 yards on 132 carries and seven rushing touchdowns. He also caught 11 passes for 55 yards and a score.
A native of Logan Township, New Jersey, Lawry holds the three highest single-season rushing yardage totals in ODU’s nine-year history and the only two 1,000 yard seasons, including 1,255 yards in 2016.
Lawry finished with 4,080 yards on 660 carries and ended his career as the all-time FBS leader in rushing yards in the state of Virginia. He is tied for third in C-USA history with 45 rushing touchdowns and ninth in rushing yards.
Lawry joins Rashaad Coward (Chicago Bears), Taylor Heinicke (Carolina Panthers), Rick Lovato (Philadelphia Eagles) and Zach Pascal (Tennessee Titans) on NFL rosters.
