CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Erik Stock went 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs, but Charlotte used two late runs to pull out a 5-3 victory over Old Dominion to clinch the weekend series on Saturday at Hayes Stadium.
After Charlotte (21-17, 9-8 C-USA) grabbed an early lead with a run in the first, Stock drilled a three-run home run off the left field foul pole in the top of the third to give Old Dominion (11-26, 4-13 C-USA) the lead. The homer was Stock's second of the season.
However, the 49ers tied it back up with a run in the third and another in the fourth, and then took the lead with runs in the sixth and seventh.
Morgan Maguire (5.2 IP, 9 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 K) received the loss on the hill for ODU.
The Monarchs had 11 hits in the loss, marking the fifth consecutive game the team has had 10+ hits. Aside from Stock, Will Morgan (2-4, 2B, R), Craig Lopez (2-3) and Bryce Windham (2-5) all recorded multi-hit games.
The series finale is tomorrow at 1 p.m. ET. Jason Hartline will get the start against Charlotte's Joey Cooner.
