Old Dominion Advances to Semifinals After 4-0 Win Over UAB

HOUSTON, Texas – The No. 33 nationally ranked/No. 1 seed Old Dominion men’s tennis team (17-6) defeated No. 8 seed UAB (12-10) by a 4-0 score in the Quarterfinals of the Conference USA Tournament on Friday afternoon.

“It was nice to get a clean 4-0 win to start the tournament,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “I think we came out with the right intensity in doubles and did a good job winning five first sets in singles after falling behind on a couple courts early. Tomorrow we will be challenged by a very good Southern Miss team. They are having a tremendous season themselves and I’m sure it will be battle we are ready for.”

With the win, ODU advances to the Semifinals on Saturday and will take on the winner of (4) Southern Miss/(5) Charlotte. This Semifinal match will begin at 1:00 p.m. EST.

The Tennis Monarchs have claimed victory in 11 of their last 12 matches, while outscoring their opponents 48-17 during that stretch. ODU is also riding a nine-match win-streak in which the Monarchs have outscored their opponents 38-12.
