RICHMOND, Va. – The No. 35 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (14-6) defeated VCU (11-7) by a 4-0 score on Sunday afternoon at the Thalhimer Tennis Center.

“We played our best doubles point of the year,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We worked quite a bit on doubles this week in practice and the guys really executed our system today. Lots of credit to VCU, they gave us a heck of a fight in singles and never backed down. I’m glad to get a road win after almost two weeks off of competition. Our group is enjoying tennis right now and that’s fun to be around.”

The Tennis Monarchs have claimed victory in eight of their last nine matches, while outscoring their opponents 36-11 during that stretch. ODU is also riding a six-match win-streak in which the Monarchs have outscored their opponents 26-6.

Looking Ahead for the Monarchs
The Monarchs will have nearly a week before facing Drake on Saturday, April 7 at 1:00 p.m. EST in Des Moines, Iowa. They will then come back home for the regular season finale and Senior Day against William & Mary on Sunday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. That is the final match before the Conference USA Tournament begins on April 20 in Houston, Texas.
