NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 39 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (14-4) was too much for Charlotte (9-11) in a 6-1 victory on Sunday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center, which marked the third match in as many days for the Tennis Monarchs.
“What a great way to bounce back and close out the weekend,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We were struggling in doubles for a couple weeks and found a way to win two matches in a tie-break today. We played very well in singles and committed to our game plans.”
“It was a great weekend of tennis,” Mueller continued. “I wish we would have done a little better yesterday, but we bounced back and learned from our mistakes. We learned that our conference is very deep and that you don’t have any easy matches in Conference USA.”
Old Dominion has now claimed victory in six of its last seven matches.
The Tennis Monarchs will be back in action on Sat., April 8, when they welcome Georgia State at 12:00 p.m. ODU will conclude its regular season home slate the following day, Sun., April 9, against Charleston at 11:00 a.m.
“We now have two weeks before our next match,” concluded Mueller. “It’s great for our guys to rest up and hit the practice courts before Georgia State.”
