NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 39 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (13-3) overcame two deficits en route to a 4-3 win over Middle Tennessee (5-11) on Friday afternoon outside at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center in front of over 100 fans. ODU trailed 1-0 and then 2-1, but ultimately claimed victory in four of the six singles matches. The Monarchs have now won five matches in a row.

“The story of the match is that we never gave up and fought,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We battled until the last point and it paid off again. I’m very proud of Jacob Nicolussi to clinch the last match after he didn’t do well in the same situation last year. That shows how far we have come.”

“Thanks to all ODU fans and student-athletes that came out today to support us during our Championship Effort,” Mueller continued. “That made the difference today and we enjoy playing in front of our crowd.”

Old Dominion will be right back in action at home tomorrow, as well as on Sunday, both against Conference USA foes. First on Saturday, March 25, ODU will welcome Florida Atlantic for a 3:00 p.m. start. On Sunday, March 26, the Tennis Monarchs will square-off against Charlotte at 10:00 a.m.
