NORFOLK, Va. -- Jeremy Cox and Jonathan Duhart each scored two touchdowns to lead Old Dominion over UTSA, 33-19, in the Conference USA opener on Saturday at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.

Cox also ran for a career-high 107 yards to lead a Monarch offense that recorded 445 total yards. David Washington went 21-of-35 for 207 yards and two touchdowns, both to Duhart, and also added 69 yards on the ground.

The ODU defense, which held UTSA to just seven points in the first half, forced a pair of Roadrunner turnovers and recorded four sacks.

Old Dominion (2-2, 1-0) carried a 19-7 lead into halftime. UTSA (1-3, 0-1) closed the gap to as little as six at 25-19 at the end of the third quarter, but Washington's one-yard touchdown pass to Duhart early in the fourth put the Monarchs back up by two scores.

Old Dominion got on the board first with a five-yard touchdown run from Jeremy Cox. Cox capped a three play, 58-yard drive, as the touchdown was set up by a career long 41 yard run from David Washington. The extra point was no good as ODU went on top 6-0.

UTSA took the lead on a 13 play, 81-yard drive as Jarveon Williams scored on a seven yard run. All 81 yards came on the ground. The extra point was good and UTSA took a 7-6 lead early in the second quarter.

The Monarchs made the score 13-7 26 seconds before halftime on a two-yard touchdown run by David Washington to cap an eight play, 80 yard drive set up by a Brandon Addison interception.

Defensively, ODU was led by TJ Ricks' 14 tackles, while Brandon Addison recorded the first interception of his career.

The Monarchs are back in action next weekend at Charlotte on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 6 p.m.
