No. 50 Tennis Monarchs Down South Alabama, 4-0

MOBILE, Ala. – The No. 50 nationally ranked Old Dominion men’s tennis team (15-4) dominated South Alabama (12-11) by a 4-0 score at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts on Sunday. ODU has now won 13 of its last 14 matches.

The Tennis Monarchs jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point with wins on Courts No. 1 and 3.

Michael Weindl lifted Old Dominion’s lead to 2-0 after making quick work of Juan Troglia (6-3, 6-2) in No. 3 singles.

Aziz Kijametovic extended the Tennis Monarchs' advantage to 3-0 when he took down Tim Srkala  (6-4, 6-1) in No. 2 singles.

Zvonimir Podvinski secured the 4-0 victory for ODU with his 6-1, 7-5 win over Olivier Gingras in No. 5 singles.

Impressively, all three of Old Dominion’s singles win came in straight sets.

The Tennis Monarchs will be back in action on Saturday, April 9, when they take on William & Mary at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m. Old Dominion will also host UNCW on Sunday, April 10, at 2:00 p.m.
