NORFOLK, Va. - Aaron Bacote scored 18 points and Denzell Taylor (18 rebounds) added a double-double as Old Dominion extended its home winning streak to 28 games with a 82-38 win over Delaware State on Friday night at the Ted Constant Center. The 28 consecutive wins is tied for the sixth-longest current home winning streak in Division I.

The 44-point victory is the third-largest win in Old Dominion Division I history and is the largest margin of victory since a 44-point victory over DePaul in 2005.

Denzell Taylor (6-6 FG) finished the game with 12 points, 18 rebounds, four blocks and two assists. Taylor's 18 rebounds were the most for an ODU player since Deshawn Painter's 16 versus Northeastern in 2013. Taylor’s double-double was his second of the season.

A total of four Monarchs finished in double-figures, led by Aaron Bacote with 18 points and three assists. Also in double figures for Old Dominion were Jordan Baker with 13 points, three steals and two assists and Zoran Talley with 12 points to go along with eight rebounds for the second consecutive contest.

Overall, ODU outrebounded Delaware State, 50-30, and held a 46-16 advantage in points in the paint and a 16-0 edge in fast-break points. The Monarchs shot 50 percent from the field for the game, while holding DSU to just 25 percent, including 18 percent from three-point range.

Old Dominion (4-4) surged out to a 19-4 lead in the first nine minutes of play thanks to the hot hand of Jordan Baker, who scored eight of his 13 points over that span. The Monarchs would extend their lead to a game-high 29 just before the break, as they entered halftime with a 44-15 lead.

Defensively, ODU held Delaware State (0-8) to just 25.9 percent shooting in the opening half and outrebounded the Hornets, 25-10.

Denzell Taylor registered a double-double in the first half alone, scoring 10 points and grabbing 12 rebounds.

The Monarchs carried the first-half momentum out of the locker room and opened the second half with a 10-2 run to thwart any opportunity for a Delaware State comeback.

For the ballgame, Mahir Johnson was the only Hornet in double figures with 13 points.
