Game 11 Preview: Old Dominion at Southern Miss

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - Old Dominion University football takes on Southern Miss on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. EST. The game will be broadcast on ASN.

The Monarchs come into the game with a 5-5 overall record and 3-3 in Conference USA while Southern Miss is 7-3 overall, and 5-1 in league play.

• David Washington passed for 291 yards on 26-of-42 passing and two touchdowns and rushed for 12 yards in ODU’s 31-21 win last week over UTEP.

• True freshman running back Jeremy Cox rushed 15 times for 84 yards and a touchdown in the win over UTEP, all career-highs. He also registered a career-best four catches for 70 yards for 154 yards all-purpose yards.

• Sophomore running back Ray Lawry added 59 yards on just five carries and a 42-yard touchdown run. The touchdown run was his 11th of the year and 12th total TD of the season.

• Zach Pascal tied his career-high with 11 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown. It was his second-straight double-digit reception game and his third-consecutive 100-yard receiving game.

• Jonathan Duhart notched five catches for 49 yards and a touchdown in the win over UTEP.

• Safety Justice Davila had a team-best 10 tackles and a pass breakup in the win over UTEP. Davila is second on the team with 78 tackles.

• Old Dominion is 19-2 all-time in November, including 3-1 each of the last two seasons. The only two losses were at UNC in 2013 and at Vanderbilt last season.

• The Monarchs are 35-12 all-time at home. ODU has sold out all 47 home games in school history.

• The Monarchs are 48-9 all-time when scoring 30 or more points and 9-16 when scoring less than 30.

Two-Game Stretch
How good has David Washington been the last two weeks? The best in Conference USA. He has the most passing yards, completions attempts and the second most rushing yards among league quarterbacks in the last two games.

Linebackers Reign
TJ Ricks had nine tackles, two pass breakups and a tackle for loss in ODU’s 31-21 win over UTEP.  The junior leads ODU with 103 tackles.

 Ricks leads Conference USA and is 11th in the country with 10.3 tackles per game.

Ricks broke Craig Wilkins’ single-game tackles record with 18 tackles in the win over Charlotte. Ricks added two tackles for loss, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.

Brandon Burlsworth Trophy
TJ Ricks was named a semi-finalist for the Brandon Burlsworthy Trophy given to the best player in the country who started his career as a walk-on.

Sack Party
Old Dominion had just 18 sacks all of last year and are at 23 through 10 games so far this season.  Redshirt freshman Oshane Ximines has led the parade with five but 12 different players have recorded sacks this year. Bunmi Rotimi is second on the team with 3.5 while Tim Ward has 2.5 and Martez Simpson and Poncho Barnwell have two apiece.
