KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Old Dominion University swimming and diving competes in the Conference USA Championships this week, starting Wednesday at 2 p.m.
This will be the second time the Monarchs compete in the championships after finishing eighth last season with Rachel Eckert winning the 3-meter dive.
Eckert returns this year for her senior season and is the top seed in both the 1 and 3-meter dives and has already qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships.
Senior Yesim Giresunlu is a top-five seed in both the 500 free and 1650 free and is the eighth seed in the 1000 free.
Sophomore Julia Vido is the fourth seed in the 100 breaststroke and the fifth seed in the 200 breaststroke. A pair of sophomores are in the top-10 in the backstroke as Colleen VandePoel is eighth in the 100 and Raquel Couto is 10th in the 200.
Conference USA schools have just three teams that compete in men’s swimming and diving and those schools, ODU, Florida Atlantic and Western Kentucky, will compete in the C-USA Invitational, also starting on Wednesday.
