Monarchs Travel To VMI on Tuesday-Host NSU Wednesday

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs hit the road to Lexington, VA to take onVMI Tuesday night at 5 p.m., then return home Wednesday night to play crosstownrival Norfolk State at 6 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Complex.

This will be the third meeting between ODU and VMI this season. The Monarchs defeated the Keydets at ODU and at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton earlier thisMonth.

Jacob Morley leads VMI with a .387 average with six homers and 21 RBI, followedby George Piccirilli at .345 with three homers and 12 RBI. VMI is scheduled tothrow Adam Lopez (0-1).

This will be the first of two meetings between ODU and NSU. The Spartans are ledby Cameron Day who is hitting .368, followed by James Taylor at .347 while RyanMontgomery leads the team with 11 RBI. NSU is scheduled to throw Justin Bhatti (2-2)Wednesday night.

The two teams will play again on April 17th at Harbor Park.

Through 23 games, Austin McGowan is hitting .429 for ODU,followed by Josh Tutwilerat .333. Chris Baker leads ODU with 20 RBI and six homers, while Tutwiler is second in RBI with 15.

Last week Baker hit .533 with two homers (including a grandslam on Saturday against Hofstra) and five RBI and Josh Eldridge hit .417 with four RBI.

Brandon Smith is 4-0 with a 3.52 ERA, while Dean Ali is 1-1 with a 2.76 ERA andErick Baker is 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA. In six appearances, freshman Dylan Bratton has a0.0 ERA.
