NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs returnto action Tuesday afternoon when they host theSpiders of Richmond at 3 p.m.in the Bud MethenyBaseball Complex.
Richmond, 2-3 are led in hitting by outfielder Phil Ruzbarsky at .529, followedby catcher Chris Cowell at .444 with three homers and six RBI.
ODU is 64-57 against the Spiders. Last year, ODU won 3-2 at Richmond and lost,8-3 in Norfolk.
Ben Verlander (Maidens, VA.) leads the Monarchs with a .400 batting average, followed by Josh Tutwiler (Bridgewater, VA.) at .353 average. Austin McGowan (Midlothian, VA.)is hitting .750 in four plate appearances.
Designated hitter Joey Burney (Gloucester, VA.) and thirdbaseman Brent Frazier (Fairfax Station, VA.) lead the team in RBIwith five each, while both Josh Wright (Bridgewater, VA. )and Chris Baker (Chesapeake, VA.) have two homers each.
ODU is scheduled to throw junior righthander C.J. Huyett (Lawrenceville, PA.)Tuesday against the Spiders.
The two teams will play again Wednesday afternoon in Richmond at 2:30.
