NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion University women's sailing placed sixth in an extremely competitive field at the Yale Women's Intersectional at the McNay Family Sailing Center in Branford, Conn. The 20-team field included every team ranked in the top-10 nationally, including the top-ranked Lady Monarchs.

Old Dominion totaled 176 points, trailing only Yale, Boston College, St. Mary's and Charleston. With the breeze ranging from 10-25 knots during the two-day event, ODU sailed their 420's through very challenging conditions for a solid finish.

The trio of Katrina Williams, Ashley Brusso and Shannon Wilkins placed 10th in the A Division with 93 points. The squad had six top-10 finishes, including a fourth place result with Williams and Brusso in the final race. Junior Morgan Wilson and sophomore Arianna Baker led the team in the B Division, claiming a sixth place finish. The pair had seven top-10 finishes and two victories in the B Division.

Old Dominion also competed in the Captain Hurst Bowl at Dartmouth this past weekend. The event was saddled with light winds which led to a lot of waiting on both days. The Monarchs placed 12th in the event with 83 points.

Stephanie Roble and Ashley Pellerito sailed to a 10th place finish in the A Division, winning one of the four races and also picking up a sixth place result. In the B Division, Alan Alkins and Arielle Darrow ended the weekend in 12th, picking up one top-five result in four races.
