George Mason Defeats ODU, 7-4

NORFOLK, VA--Ryan Sores knocked in three runs and Shane David knocked in two to lead thePatriots of George Mason (16-4/2-1) to a 7-4 Colonial Athletic Association win over Old Dominion(6-13/1-2) Sunday afternoon.

Junior outfielder Cameron Scott (Culpeper, Va.) knocked in three runs for ODU with a two-run homer in the second inning and an RBI groundout in the eighth inning. Joe Velleggia (Monkton, MD.) was aboard on Scott's homer and Donnie Corsner (Virginia Beach, Va.) scored in the eighth. Both of Scott's homerscame in this weekend series.

The Monarchs scored the first inning as Jake McAloose (Virginia Beach, Va.) singled up the middle to bring home Chris Buss (Rosemont, MN.).

George Mason, trailing 3-0 scored four runs in the fourth inning as Chris Henderson singled homeSpencer Wiggins, Ryan Soares doubled home Jason Bour and Chris Henderson, then Shane Davis platedSoares on a sacrifice fly.

Three Monarchs, Max Most (Port Washington, NY.), Jake McAloose and Donnie Corsner had two hits on the day. Chris Henderson and Ryan Soares each had three hits for the Patriots. The Monarchs stranded nine men on base.

Dan Gerjets picked up the win with relief help from Ryan Brecko and Jordan Flasher.

ODU returns to action Friday with a three-game CAA series at the University of Delaware beginningat 3 p.m.
