The Old Dominion sailing team will be sending yetanother representativeto the ICSA National Collegiate Sailing Championships this fall. JuniorBrad Funk (Harbor Bluffs, Fl.)finished second at the MAISA Singlehanded District Championships behindOskar Johansson ofQueen's College. The National Championships will be November 3-5 inSeattle, WA.
Funk finished second out of 16 in a race where only the top threeadvance to the National Championships. Funk will be joining the Sloop squad and the women'sSinglehanded sailor Sally Barkow at the national championship competitionsin November. Old Dominionhas won 11 Collegiate Sailing National titles since 1982.
Also in Annapolis, the sixth ranked Lady Monarch sailing squadfinished third at the Navy Fall Women'sIntersectional. The A boat of Corrie Clement ( Metarie, La.) and Liz Bower(Fairport, NY.) finishedeighth, as did the B division boat of Jessica Simpson (Ontario, Canada),Jeanenne Cochran (Williamsburg,Va.) and Debbie Cappozzi (Bayport, NY). Sally Barkow (Nashotah, WI.)finished third in the C divisionfor the Lady Monarchs.
